West World Holding’s McKinney Green Office Building, the first privately developed LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certified platinum building in the United States, incorporates several design elements to minimize its impact on the natural environment.
- Captured rainwater is used for irrigation
- The site uses no potable water
- A highly efficient heating/cooling system utilizes the ground to absorb and dissipate heat energy
- Uses 60 percent less energy than a typical office building
- 50 percent of building materials contained recycled content
- Local manufacturers supplied 20 percent of the materials used to develop the site
- Electrical power is being purchased from a wind farm
- Alternate fuel vehicles are accommodated and employee use of bicycles is encouraged
